Prefolds Prefolds

These 'Industrial' prefolds are made in Pakistan or China from woven cotton. They are thicker than most small prefolds available in this country, being 4 layers and the centre panel 8 layers thick. Once washed they will shrink a little and fluff up to give a waffled appearance, and become very absorbent. They are very hard wearing (they are used by nappy laundry services) and will last several babies.

The Small size will suit from birth to approx 15lb, and thereafter can be used as an additional booster layer, ideal at nights.

The Regular is of the same construction as the Small, but larger and is thus very absorbent. This size will suit from approx15lb to between 28-35lb (7-16kg) depending on build.

Toddler size fits from about 27lb to about 35lb, being that bit larger all round for bigger babies/toddlers, and also good for heavier wetters.

Folding instructions with every purchase.

Wash at 60ºC or 95ºC, tumble dry on hot.

A WRAP is needed with this nappy. Suggested wraps include Prorap, Bummis Super Whisper Print, Bummis Cotton print, Nature Babies originals, Litewrap, Rikki. Also ideal for stuffing Fuzzi Bunz.

Bamboo Prefolds Bamboo Prefolds

These prefolds have two layers of lovely soft white bamboo terry fabric on the side panels and three layers on the middle panel. They are an excellent night nappy as bamboo absorbs 60% more water than cotton, so are relatively slim for the absorbency. These also make excellent stuffers for pouched nappy systems.

Bamboo has hardly any impact on the environment; it thrives naturally without the use of pesticides. Bamboo fabric is antibacterial by nature, even after 100 washes the bamboo fibre still possesses its anti bacterial properties.

These are one of the softest, silkiest nappies and absorbent prefolds on the market.

Kushies Prefolds Kushies Prefolds
Slim prefolds, made in Canada of soft brushed flannelette, 2 x4x2 - so not especially absorbent, but ideal for newborns, small babies, slim babies and lighter wetters up to about 20-25lb max. These make good burping/mopping up cloths too, and many choose the patterned Kushies to line a changing mat as they are so soft.

Approximate size 49 x 30cm, it must be remembered that these Kooshies prefolds are not as absorbent as the woven prefolds. You will probably find for larger babies and heavy wetters that you may need to add boosters or use two together, also they are small so won't fit round chubby/bigger babies so you'll need to pad fold. Many babies will have outgrown these by about 1 year to 18 months.

Folding instructions with every purchase.

Wash at 60ºC or 95ºC, tumble dry on hot.

A WRAP is needed with this nappy. Suggested wraps include Prorap, Bummis Super Whisper Print, Nature Babies Classic wraps, Imse wraps. Ideal for stuffing small Fuzzi Bunz and other pocket nappies.

Nappi Nippa Nappi Nippa

These stretchy plastic gadgets hook easily and safely into the loop pile of the terries to hold the nappy securely in place without the risk of stabbing your baby with pins! Lay the Nippa on the front of the nappy as a T and hold firmly in place with one hand. Stretch one end, either the left orr the right, as far as you can and hook the teeth into the fabric. Reapeat for other side. Then, take the remaining central hooks as far as you can downwards and hook into the fabric. The Nippa should now be in a Y shape, not a T - if it is a T it will be too loose and may come off.

Pins - set of 4 Pins - set of 4

Traditional nappy pins made by Prym Whitecroft with locking heads. Sharp and suitable for pinning prefolds and terries. Set comprises two pairs of coloured heads (assorted combinations of pink blue white). Please note these pins are sharp!

To keep your pins sharp and able to glide through the fabric, we suggest either storing sharp point in beeswax or soap, or running the pin through your hair (carefully!) so it picks up a fine coating of grease (yes, it works even if you've just washed your hair!) to enable it to slide through the fabric with ease.

Twinkle Fleece Liners Twinkle Fleece Liners

Hourglass, available in white or assorted colours.

These 100% polyester fleece liners are shaped to fit, being approximately 34cm x 14cm, and hourglass shaped being about 4cm wider at each end. Current stock now singly or packs of 6 in either cream/white or packs of 6 assorted brightly coloured. You can make your own fleece liners from 100% polyester fleece available from all good fabric shops. We were the first site to introduce fleece liners to the UK, and they have proved extremely popular. We have ours made to our own hourglass shape as we find this shape better than rectangular ones as it tends to resist creasing up in use.

Polyester fleece gives a nice thickness of non-absorbency between baby and the nappy, allowing wee to be drawn away into the nappy. Ideal for night times, and probably better for your baby's skin than the gel of disposable nappies, these fleece liners really do keep your baby surprisingly dry. Rather than use a desiccant chemical to keep your baby's skin dry, they work by using your baby's body heat to evaporate the moisture through to soak up into the nappy, leaving a dry layer next to your baby's skin. Mind you, I am of a view that marketing has a lot to answer for: it is worth considering what your baby's skin was in for the 9 months whilst in uterus, and indeed keeping skin moist seems to be considered a good thing for many skin conditions - wet wraps were always the best treatment for my daughter's Great Gran's leg ulcers!

For newborn babies they are soft, and help keep the poo off the nappies reducing staining. For older babies, when you are expecting a poo, a paper liner can be used on top to facilitate removal if required. However do be aware that a paper liner will tend to hold moisture for longer between baby and fleece liner so negating the effect of the fleece to some extent.

They are also easy to wash - in with the nappies at any temperature, and if pooed on, simply stretch over the loo and let the poo fall off! For stickier poo, hold a corner and flush the loo, or, for more sticky situations, fold in two (poo inside so you avoid contact!) and rub in the flush. Long lasting and durable, these work out much more economical than flushable liners with the benefit of being much softer against baby's skin.

Colour is white/ivory/cream or similar pale shade depending what is available at the time of your order, or assorted bright colours.

Available individually at £1 each or in packs of 6 at £5.

Biodegradable Flushable Liners Biodegradable Flushable Liners

These liners allow wet to pass through to the absorbent nappy, whilst retaining solids. Placed inside the nappy next to baby they make dealing with the poo in nappies very easy - simply flush the liner and poo away down the toilet. If your liners are simply wet, these can be washed with the nappies and re-used up to about 3 to 5 times until the disintegrate.

Provided your plumbing is in order, these liners are often safe for most septic tanks. As with all flushable biodegradable liners we advise to tear in two as you pop in the loo to flush to minimise the risk of blockage. If in doubt, or you know you have old or damaged drains then shake to poo off into the toilet and bag and bin the liners

Available in two sizes, our liners are made in Europe. The smaller Baby liners in packs of 200 (approx size 20 x 19.5cm) are suitable from birth to about 1 year to 18 months or so, the larger liners in packs of 100 (approx size 28 x 19.5cm) are much longer and thus ideal for older babies at their length usually leaves enough liner free to use to wipe baby with, or can be cut in two for a small baby. You may find with a newborn that you don't need to use a liner since the poo frequently washes off the nappies very easily in the early days. Particularly with breastfed poo, which is notoriously runny, you will find that a fleece liner is far more effective at poo catching, as the liquidity of the poo will usually soak straight through these flushable liners.

Twinkle Twooster (TM) Twinkle Twooster (TM)

Twoosters (TM) are a booster made of two fabrics - hence the name. Two layers of absorbent terry topped with a third layer of polyester fleece, and cut to the familiar Twinkle hourglass shape. Specially designed to minimise the number of separate layers you need, the fleece layer of the Twooster will keep your baby dry and at the same time the two layers of terry will provide extra absorbency. Simply pop one of these on top of your nappy fleece side up instead of using a booster and a separate liner. Great for childcare use too. White, wash any temperature, can tumble dry.
