Trainer pants are nowadays a very popular item when potty training. Firstly, please do not be confused by these products, they are not as absorbent as nappies, unlike the pull-up disposable nappies heavily marketed for potty training (yes they are called pull ups not 'pull up nappies' for a reason - to keep your child in nappies for longer because it serves the same function as far as your child is concerned but marketed to you as being one step towards potty training). Trainer pants are designed for use by the almost potty trained child when at the 'might have an accident but can usually stop once a wee has started' stage. Therefore whilst trainer pants will hold a small accident they are not designed for and will not hold a flood.

As trainer pants go, I was somewhat sceptical that these would work - but they do, and work pretty well considering their price advantage, holding about 1 little wee. They look and feel like ordinary pants, the absorbent bit is foam! You will need to change very promptly after the wee though. Represents good value at this price. These pants are made to look like pants, with a cotton jersey top, elasticated waist and legs. It is only the middle bit below the waist, and between the legs which is thicker with the absorbent foam with a waterproof backing, sandwiched between the two layers of cotton jersey. They are available in each of the rainbow colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and amethyst pink, plus the new more pastel Ice Cream colours: Strawberry, Light Blue Turquoise, Blue, Pistachio, Banana and Lavender. (Note: from time to time we are unable to get certain size/colours, so we may send an alternative colour so do please state at checkout if you have a boy or girl, or there is any thing specific you do or don't want).

Sizing is approximate - if your child is comparably slim or chunky compared to age group then do adjust the size you choose accordingly.

Small : up to about 15-18 months

These trainer pants are made from polyurethane laminated polyester outer, with a polyester fleece lined inner that is left open at the rear to form a pouch into which you can stuff your pad folded nappy or microfibre, cotton or bamboo terry or hemp insert. It's nicely elasticated to give a stretchy fit that can be pulled up or down by the majority of toddlers, but also has popper fastenings each side for easy removal and use.

Imse Vimse Trainer Pants Imse Vimse Trainer Pants

A soft, comfortable trainer pant with cotton terry inside, knitted cotton outer and a breathable polyurethane laminate waterproof layer between the two. Looks and feels very similar to ordinary pants, but thicker. These are thicker than the Bright Bots trainer pants and thus are more absorbent. Again like the Bright Bots, these are designed to cope with small accidents they are not nappies, and they should be changed in reasonable time after an accident in them as they are cotton on the outside and eventually the moisture will spread. Available in white or print, in 4 sizes, these trainer pants have softly elasticated legs and waist.

The Minki Yoyo has been designed as a fun, versatile pull up trainer pant/night time pant. It has stretchy Lycra at the sides enabling it to be pulled up by your child as well as poppers (should a messy accident occur it makes them easier to remove). The fleece inner pouch can be stuffed to the required thickness for the amount you child wees - a little for daytime use when almost toilet trained or fully stuffed for a big night-time wee.

You can stuff your Yoyo with a variety of things to make it as slim or as absorbent as you choose and you can change the level of absorbency depending on your requirements, so it's an ideal choice as a trainer pant as you can start off with lots of absorbency and then reduce it as required, but also pad it out a lot as a night nappy once toilet trained by day. This means you should get a lot of use out of this nappy.

Sizing is approximate and fairly generous, there is some overlap between the two sizes. Please note that the sizing is NOT the same as other Minki products:

These soft pull up pants are made from the same polyester fabric as the Mother-ease wraps, and lined with a layer of soft terry. The elastic at the waist and legs is similar to pant elastic and though my daughter was not fooled by them (they have the polyester outer of the wraps, so were designated 'nappies'!), they did seem quite pant-like but had the benfit of being more waterproof than a cottton outered trainer pant.

We have a range of reusable reward charts especially created for Twinkle Twinkle to aid you in potty training your child. Each chart has a series of awards to be stuck on on each time your child successfully completes the task, and allows you to choose a suitable reward for when the chart is full

The individual laminated reward tokens are totally reusable because they attach with Velcro rather than stick on, and can be stuck on the back when not in use. The charts are made with a durable wipe-clean laminated surface.

We have three specific potty training designs in stock, a Potty Chart, a Star Chart, and our extremely popular and amusing 'Poo on The Potty Chart' complete with piles of poo to stick on - this one seems to appeal to a three year old's toilet sense of humour and is useful with older children who may be reluctant to poo anywhere other than in their pants. Made of the same stretch terry inner and polyurethane lamiante outer as their nappies and wraps, these ultra-thick one-piece pull on pants also have a sewn in flap that is only attached at the ends to aid drying, which is slow anyway due to the thickness of this product. Designed to stem quite a large wee such as one might encounter at night, these pants come in larger sizes that will fit from toddler up to around 5-6 years depending on build. These pants are ideal for those small children that have regular accidents at night. Boosters can be added for extra absorbency if required. Suggested quantity 2-3 to allow for drying.

These night-time absorbent pants fasten towards the rear with poppers, allowing an inch of adjustment, yet look like pants from the front. They have soft elasticated waist and thighs. Made of soft PUL polyurethane laminate waterproof outer with an inner of 4 layers of microfibre terry between the legs, these are a nice, lightweight, not too bulky nightwear with good capacity and relatively quick to dry as the microfibre being man-made holds the moisture between the fibres and thus will spin relatively dry in your washing machine when compared to a natural fibre. However, do be careful not to use too tight pyjamas over the top as this can encourage leaks.

Rise = from belly button through crotch to back waist.

Handmade with care in the UK by a work-at-home-mum, a Buppy Pad is a shaped absorbent pad with a waterproof backing. The cut-out is designed to fit to the front to allow car seat straps and buggy straps to fasten normally.

Buppy pads are designed to lay in your buggy or car seat to protect against accidents whilst potty training, They are also very useful if you give your child snacks or drinks in the pushchair or car seat to keep the seat fabric clean from crumbs, dropped chocolate, dribbles of wee and all the things little children spill. The pad is easily removed and laundered without having to unthread and rethread the complex safety strap systems of modern car seats and buggies.

Buppy pads are not designed as a nappy substitute, they do have a soaker pad attached to the top layer to catch a small accident, dribble or a spill but are not designed to contain a flood.
