At last, after many months of scouring the web we have found what we hope is the right replacement material for our silver threaded liners. We’ve looked in China, Taiwan and across the far East, but are delighted to have found just what we wanted made for us to our specifications here in the UK! Silver has, for many years, been known for its anti-bacterial properties. The unique polyester fabric we have sourced has a woven thread of fibre with a layer of pure silver permanently bonded to the surface, giving a visual reminder of the anti-bacterial agent’s presence, while retaining the original properties of the polyester fabric. This silver fibre is used to prevent bacteria from multiplying, mutating or being transmitted from the product. The liner can either be used as a nappy liner on top of the nappy between baby and nappy, or can be used inside a nappy such as a pocket nappy. Either way, the silver thread helps prevent the growth of bacteria, thereby reducing incidence of nappy rash.
Our fabric has been tested and found to kill 99.9% of bacteria within one hour, including MRSA. It works by the silver ions disrupting the DNA of micro-organisms on the fabric, effectively disrupting the respiration of the microbe, and preventing growth and replication. The silver threaded fabric also acts as an odour neutraliser, by binding with ammonia, denatured proteins and kinning odour producing bacteria. Furthermore this fabic is non-allergenic and has no reported cases of allergy in over 20 years use in many applications.
Unlike silk liners these silver nappy liners may be washed at 40 or 60 with your nappies. The silver liner fabric has been tested for over 100 washes, without any reduction in bacterial reducing properties, making them very easy to use and long lasting.
We are now looking for one more final tester for our product, please email if you have a child prone to nappy rash (other than a teething rash) and would like to try the silver liners. We expect the finished product to be in stock mid November.
