Silver Liners – back in stock shortly

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

At last, after many months of scouring the web we have found what we hope is the right replacement material for our silver threaded liners.  We’ve looked in China, Taiwan and across the far East, but are delighted to have found just what we wanted made for us to our specifications here in the UK!  Silver has, for many years, been known for its anti-bacterial properties.  The unique polyester fabric we have sourced has a woven thread of fibre with a layer of pure silver permanently bonded to the surface, giving a visual reminder of the anti-bacterial agent’s presence, while retaining the original properties of the polyester fabric. This silver fibre is used to prevent bacteria from multiplying, mutating or being transmitted from the product.  The liner can either be used as a  nappy liner on top of the nappy between baby and nappy, or can be used inside a nappy such as a pocket nappy.  Either way, the silver thread helps prevent the growth of bacteria, thereby reducing incidence of nappy rash.

Our fabric has been tested and found to kill 99.9% of bacteria within one hour, including MRSA.  It works by the silver ions disrupting the DNA of micro-organisms on the fabric, effectively disrupting the respiration of the microbe, and preventing growth and replication. The silver threaded fabric also acts as an odour neutraliser, by binding with ammonia, denatured proteins and kinning odour producing bacteria.  Furthermore this fabic is non-allergenic and has no reported cases of allergy in over 20 years use in many applications.

Unlike silk liners these silver nappy liners may be washed at 40 or 60 with your nappies. The silver liner fabric has been tested for over 100 washes, without any reduction in bacterial reducing properties,  making them very easy to use and long lasting.

We are now looking for one more final tester for our product, please email if you have a child prone to nappy rash (other than a teething rash) and would like to try the silver liners.  We expect the finished product to be in stock mid November.

Itti Bitti Tutto now in stock

Monday, October 18th, 2010

A little belatedly announced, but the new one size Tutto has arrived: http://www.twinkleontheweb.co.uk/acatalog/details-06TUT.html.

Designed to fit from 7lb up to

Bitti Tutto

around 44lb, this generously sized nappy is great if you’re looking for a one size nappy.  It’s not as slim as the D’Lish snap in or all in one, being wider at the legs, and coming higer in the rise than the large.  However it is very absorbent, coming with the Itti Bitt bamboo/organic cotton pads arranged to pack in good absorbency to suit whatever size settings you’ve adjusted for your baby.

The Tutto has popeprs on the outside of the front to adjust the height, plus extra wing popper tabs inside to protect your baby from the inner facing poper on the tab, but also to snap on to help prevent the wings of the nappy dropop when on,  Another new feature is the ‘poo fence’ an inner gusset of elasticated polyester suedecloth, designed to contain all within the nappy

Tots wraps prints new for 2010Another delivery has arrived, this time with the new wrap prints from Tots Bots. I have to say the new fabric is lovely and silky soft, far less ‘crunchy’ and more stretchy than the old,  great improvement and a great range of prints.

On the left on the top row is white, then Cherrylicious – heart shaped cherries, I do like the red Aplix to match, and on the right Mushroom Magic, second row on the left Flower Power, TuttiFruiti and Starburst – most popular so far, with Cosmic below.

New money-saving nappy kits

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Whilst the government are talking about spending cuts, and everyone is watching their pockets, we’ve looked at providing an all-inclusive nappy kit for a special price, and are proud to unveil the new Eco Nappy BucKit - Eco as in ‘Economy’ as well as being better for the environment than disposables.

Eco Nappy Buc-kit

Economy Nappy Bucket

With a newborn kit for just £50 comprising all you’ll need to start full time nappy-ing, we think this is unbeatable value.  In the kit you get 18 nappies, a Nappi Nippa to fasten, 4 Prorap wraps, as well as bucket, nappy mesh, liners and washable wipes plus full instructions in our How to Nappy Booklet.  This kit is ideal if you’re able to claim a rebate from your local council, as the minimum spend is usually £50.  Larger size kits are a little more (£55-70), but even so this is amazing value and far cheaper than other branded prefold kits on the market.

New EasyFit stock from Tots Bots

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

We’ve taken delivery of several boxes containing our new EasyFit V2 and Teeny Fit.

Tots Bots EasyFit V2

Tots Bots have produced some lovely new prints too, now in a supersoft PUL – less ‘crunchy’ yet more stretchy, but breathable and more waterproof.  The inner bamboo is the new stretch short loop pile terry, and this is surrounded by a silky soft polyester to keep the moisture away from the leg holes and waist.

The EasyFit now has a smaller partner, the TeenyFit, designed to fit from birth (5lb+) to around 12lb. This fills a gap in our product lines – an all in one nappy that is small enough for a newborn without being bulky, and will be great for twins, or lower birthweight babies.

Waterproof Duvet covers just arrived

Monday, March 15th, 2010

We always had the problem with our daughter wrapping her legs up in her duvet, resulting in the duvet getting saturated every now and then when she slept and wet rather than wake and go to the loo (how she will thank me for writing this, but I’m quite sure it was the same for all her schoolfriends at some time or other!)  Fortunately a single duvet fits the washing machine, but it takes ages to dry.  We’ve just had a delivery of HippyChick duvet covers for cotbed, single and double duvets. Much more convenient to wash a cover rather than the whole duvet!  These covers are made from a soft jersey fabric lined with polyurethane waterproofing, meaning they’re soft and quiet – none of that crackling noise that PVC makes at night.

Incidentally, night time wetting is extremely common but rarely mentioned. Most children will still wet the bed for a few years after becoming dry by day – some regularly, some infrequently usually up to the age of about 6 or 7,  and around 1 in 12 will continue to do so for longer.  We do find it difficult to locate products for the older/larger children (3-4 years+), and we only have a limited range of stock in the bigger sizes.  A very useful resource for older children is ERIC - Educational Resources for Improving Childhood Continence.
