Version 4
This aptly named birth to potty pocket nappy is very adjustable size wise by means of three rows of poppers on the front to reduce the height and thus truly does fit a wide range from 9-35lb. Made of a quality polyurethane laminated polyester waterproof outer layer with a soft stay dry inner layer with an opening at the back to form a pouch into which is placed one or both of the microfibre insert that is supplied with the nappy. Whilst the popper version has the ability to fit from around 9lb(3.2kg) the popper fastening version will fit from around 7lb or so. However please do be aware that with scrawny legs typical of a just newborn you may find this nappy system isn't an especially leakproof solution until the legs have 'chubbied out' a bit once birth weight and the first couple of pounds put on, since there is effectively only one barrier at the leg unlike a two-part nappy and wrap system. Newborn users may find the BumGenius is more effective used as a wrap over muslins or a prefold as the nappy at the very early stages.
When used with just the microinsert(s) this nappy is very trim and a good fit under clothing, and is generally a good fit over a wide range of sizes. Use the small insert for smaller babies, and the larger insert can be poppered down for the medium size and used unpoppered for the large setting on the front of the nappy, with the smaller insert added too for extra absorbency. For older babies further additional absorbency may be added to the pouch as required - we stock our own microinserts and bamboo boosters and small terries.
Unique to this nappy are the (patent pending) stretchy cross-over tabs, giving a good, snug fit. The leg casings roll out in the same style as the Happy Heinys and thus for a snug fit without leaving red marks.
The size is adjusted by the means of three rows of three poppers which reduce the height of this nappy, and for a newborn the front may be folded down further to clear the umbilical card. Although the initial cost seems pricey, as this is a one-size nappy system and includes inserts, it will work out very economical in the long term. However do be aware that for taller/larger babies and those that potty train later, this nappy may get outgrown, and that as with most one-size pocket systems we would generally suggest you are unlikely to get the use for more than one baby. We'd expect this nappy to be used a lot over 2 1/2 years, and get a fair amount of wear and tear during that time as the whole thing has to be washed each time, and being a quicker drying system it will get used frequently as most people are able to economise on numbers required.
