The nappy has a 3 layer flap attached at the front which can be folded more to the front for a boy or to the back for a girl, and it speeds up the drying without compromising on absorbency. The nappy itself has two layersin the crotch, so you will find this nappy is very thirsty being 5 layers of terry between the legs. The leg elastic is turned and stitched neatly, and is not too tight, so you are unlikely to get rub marks around the thighs. There are two fastening options, either with a Nappy Nippa which will give a neat snug and very adjustable fit that is best on containment, or with Aplix Velcro for speed. The waist tabs are cut fairly high so you will not find a problem with fitting these nappies under wraps. It also works well under fleece wraps and wool wraps for night time use. To make this a one-size nappy, the Size 2 can be shrunk to fit from around 8lb by folding the front (above the sewn in booster) outwards, then doing up by overlapping the tabs across on top. Can be done with either the Aplix or non-aplix versions, although you may want to use a Nappy Nippa on the Aplix version too as this helps improve containment by giving a better fit. A little bulky on the waist, more so with the Aplix version, but this does make an exceedingly economical one-sized nappy. There is a larger Size 3 available, it isn't usually required, however it can be used to follow on where a big toddler or late potty trainer is expected, by folding the front down to reduce the height and overlapping the tabs.
