Tots Bots have broken away from the mould of the modern terry shaped nappy with the new FlexiTots. Designed to provide maximum absorption, with minimal bulky yet not compromising on drying time, Tots Bots have created a revolutionary hybrid synthetic-bamboo nappy that fits the bill.

Dubbed ActivFlex technology, the fabric of this unique nappy comprises a super soft stretchy white polyester outside, to give a snug yet very comfortable fit - no more stiff bulky waistbands, with a core of very absorbent polyester microfibre, yet lined inside with the softest of soft 90% viscose bamboo velour with 10% polyester for strength and to aid drying (Tots Bots refer to their velour as viscose bamboo as the process for making bamboo fabric is similar to the process of making viscose from wood pulp.

What we liked about this nappy was the incredible softness when compared to other nappies, as both the polyester outer and the bamboo velour inner are and remain very soft even in hard water.

The styling is a little different to the usual Tots Bots style, being higher cut at the leg but still provides surprisingly good containment due to the very snug fit. We think this will appeal to users who feel that wearing a cloth nappy may hinder baby's progress in crawling/walking due to bulk (though having come out the other end one does wonder why one might wish ones baby to get more mobile since this only leads them to get their fingers into more things than they should!). Furthermore the soft squishyness of the microfibre core means this nappy can be folded down easily without being bulky to fit a smaller baby, and the Size 2 makes a great one-size nappy by folding down to fit.

Absorbency is very good, the microfibre core is twice as absorbent as cotton, and there's a detachable popper in pad for extra absorbency supplied with the nappy, this can be folded to the front or back for more absorbency where needed to suit, or removed - especially useful if you're shrinking the nappy down by folding it down to fit a smaller baby.

Washing is recommended at 40 with line drying for reasons of environment and economy but this nappy may also be washed at 60 and tumble dried. Drying time is medium - faster than Bamboozles.

Aplix fastening only, requires a wrap, suggested wraps include Motherease Rikki and Airflow, Popo, Vento, Tots Wrap and Imse Soft wrap.

The Itti Bitti D'Lish Snap AIO features the same super trim trim Itti Bitti styling - absorbency without bulk as the Classic Itti Bitti Snap All in One.

Like the Classic, the D'Lish doesn't require a cover, but the outer cover is a super silky soft laminated Minkee fabric - a short pile velour with a waterproof PUL backing, in a choice of wonderful rainbow colours. The cover is lined inside with soft polyester suedecloth, and fastens with a series of poppers with a generous overlap of the tabs for slimmer babies. As the poppers are covered by microfleece inside the nappy, the Itti Bitti won't leave popper marks on your baby's skin.

As with the Classic, the D'Lish has super absorbent snap in bamboo/cotton pads.

Inside the nappy are a pair of two layer bamboo/organic cotton knit soaker pads one is slim slightly hourglass shaped and topped with polyester microfleece to wick the moisture away, the other is larger - a flat rectangle that folds into 3 giving 6 layers of absorbency, so together that gives 8 layers of absorbency, so you can see that this is a very thirsty nappy despite its slimness! The bamboo/organic cotton knit stays relatively soft in hard water (being a knit fabric) but as the soaker pads each attach only at one end of the Itti Bitti nappy you can choose which one to put on top of the other and thus whether to have microfleece or knit bamboo/cotton next to your baby's skin. As the pads un-popper from the body of the nappy, and the larger one unfolds, this aids drying time. For those that think this might look confusing - don't worry the manufacturer has thoughtfully colour coded the poppers so that you can easily re-assemble. Extra/spare pads available separately.

Another clever feature of the Itti Bitti D'Lish nappies, is the ability to add extra absorbency when it is needed, with the Itti Bitti snap on mini-boosters (available separately). These boosters are colour coded so you know exactly where they go and can even be snapped with a single snap and folded towards the front for greater boosting versatility - handy for boys and tummy sleepers. Most babies will be fine with the standard absorbency, but for those big wetters that need a little extra to last the distance and for times you think the nappy may be on longer than normal, the mini boosters are fantastic. Best thing is that they will usually stay on during the wash, so you don't need to worry about snapping them back on after every wash - you may want to unsnap one side to aid drying time however. Itti Bitti snap on mini boosters come in bamboo or microfibre so you can choose natural or man-made fibres.

This extra mini booster feature is not currently available with the Classic Snap All In One so choose the D'Lish for a heavier wetter.

Snug fitting and incredibly neat yet surprisingly absorbent these cute little nappies really do fit as slim as a disposable (a common complaint about washable nappies is that they can be bulky), and thus are perfect for under clothes that don't usually go over cloth bums.

The Itti Bitti D'Lish is high cut at the front, and slim at the crotch for freedom of movement and comfort.

D'Lish Mini Snap in Booster
A clever feature of the Bitti D'Lish nappies is the ability to add an extra microfibre or bamboo mini booster to the nappy to increase absorbency for extra heavy wetters, or for extended wear. These snap on boosters stay in place through the wash, so no need to fiddle around with extra pieces.

They can also be attached with just one snap and folded to the front for even more absorbency for boys and tummy sleepers, even with just one snap attached, they usually stay put during the wash.

They feature the itti bitti colour coded snaps for easy reassembly, should you wish to remove the boosters during the wash or on the off chance it does come off.

Adding a snap on mini booster does add a little bulk to the crotch, but the nappies still remain very trimm. It is worth it for the extra absorbency - adding the mini boosters to the Snap in AIO's has been tested on the heaviest wetters we could find with fantastic success.

Complete set comprising both bamboo snap in pads, the main rectangular bamboo booster snaps in at the back, folds in three and fits underneath the top booster. The top two layer bamboo booster is microfleece topped to keep baby's bottom dry, and shaped to ensure the boosters stay in place. The poppers are colour co-ordinated so you'll always know which way round to fit them.

This aptly named birth to potty pocket nappy is very adjustable size wise by means of three rows of poppers on the front to reduce the height and thus truly does fit a wide range from 8-35lb. Made of a quality polyurethane laminated polyester waterproof outer layer with a soft stay dry inner layer with an opening at the back to form a pouch into which is placed the microfibre insert that is supplied with the nappy. For newborns under 10lb we suggest the hemp Little Weed inserts for a trimmer fit still, however do be aware that with scrawny legs you may find this nappy system isn't an especially leakproof solution until the legs have 'chubbied out' a bit once birth weight and the first couple of pounds put on, since there is effectively only one barrier at the leg unlike a two-part nappy and wrap system. Newborn users may find the BumGenius is more effective used as a wrap over muslins or a Little Weed as the nappy at the very early stages.

When used with just the microinsert this nappy is very trim and a good fit under clothing, and is generally a good fit ov er a wide range of sizes. For older babies additional absorbency may be added to the pouch as required - we stock our own microinserts and bamboo boosters and small terries, or you might consider the hemp Little Weed and Big Weed inserts made to wrap around the microfibre insert for extra absorbency.

Unique to this nappy are the (patent pending) stretchy cross-over tabs, giving a good, snug fit.. The tabs fold back for washing. The leg casings roll out in the same style as the Happy Heinys and thus for a snug fit without leaving red marks.

The size is adjusted by the means of three rows of three poppers which reduce the height of this nappy, and for a newborn the front may be folded down further to clear the umbilical card. Although the initial cost seems pricey, as this is a one-size nappy system and included an insert, it will work out very economical in the long term.

Very cute and very soft, this nappy is a winner for newborn softness! A truly luxurious silkyshort loop pile terry, with multi position side popper fastenings at waist and thigh allows for a good fit and adjustability. This Canadian nappy is made of 85% bambooknitted stretch terry towelling with 15% polyester (in the base weave of the fabric for longevity and reduction of shrinkage, the pile being soft silky bamboo, so that is next to your baby's skin).

This nappy is elasticated all round the waist and legs to ensure a good fit. Wash at 60ºC and tumble dry on hot. Line drying is medium/slow due to the extra padding between the legs, which makes this a nice absorbent nappy. You can add boosters for nights as required. The popper fastenings are good at resisting small fingers where velcro doesn't! You may find that the sizing on these is on the small side, and it may be possible to entirely by-pass the L size by progressing directly from Small to XLarge as the XL ('Toddle-ease' ) will usually fit from about 22-24lb (particularly chunkier babies). The newborn XS size is suitable for small or premature babies, particularly those of skinny build: the majority of babies will not need this size.

As the Itti Bitti is generously elasticated at the leg, the gathering of the PUL outer creates a deep channel for the padding so is very absorbent yet still looks slim. The cleverness of the design baffled one of our testers who couldn't understand how the nappy was so absorbent, didn't leak, yet really didn't seem bulky at all, and indeed looked quite tiny and possibly far too small before she tried it on!

The Bambinex Teddy is made from a medium pile microfibre nappy - shorter than the Fluffle but still a fluffy pile rather than a close knit loop pile like the MicroDiddy Diaper from Nature Babies), soft and strokeable (just like a soft toy teddy really). This means the nappy is medium in bulk - the Bambinex Teddy nappy is therefore trimmer than a Fluffle but still bulkier than a Microdiddy Diaper. The Teddy nappy is two layers thick throughout, the seams are turned and top stitched to give a neat finish, and it has long tabs with an overlapping hook and loop fastening, giving good adjustment over a wide range of sizes. It has elastic at the legs and waist, and comes complete with a separate 3 layer booster that can be positioned to suit at the back or front of the nappy as required. This booster has two layers of pile microfibre and a velour layer on top to give a smoother surface to facilitate poo removal.

The nappy has fold back tabs to secure the (YKK brand, like Velcro but not that brand nor Aplix brand) hook and loop fastening tabs for washing, and can be washed at 40 or 60 and tumble dried, although not usually necessary, being made of 100% polyester, it is a fast drying nappy on a warm dry day or hung by a radiator will usually take just a couple of hours or so to dry (depending on the spin speed of your machine)

Motherease One Size Nappy Bamboo
An extremely popular one size nappy now available in soft bamboo terry which can be adjusted with poppers to fit from new-born to potty training - about 8-32lb, though this will vary according to your baby's build. Can be bulky around the waist on a slim newborn (but remember they grow quickly), equally can be outgrown height or widthwise especially if a tall baby (though the same can be true of most nappies particularly multi-sized ones). You may find that this nappy is extremely trim fitting at around 6m-1 year and express concerns that it will get outgrown - this is quite normal as this is when your baby is at maximum width and should slim down sometimes quite dramatically upon getting mobile (tip do not part with your M wraps even if in XL ones at this point until after your baby has been walking for 3-4 months). However if maternal height is over 5ft 7" and/or you have a history of larger babies and /or later potty training please be prepared that your child may outgrow these in height and you may need to move to larger nappies.

The absorbency of this nappy is good, there is also a separate inner booster liner - the two parts are available separately, which attaches with poppers for use as required and at nights. The booster will not normally be needed for a newborn, but is usually added in later (say from around 3-4 months) and for nights. Waist and legs are gently elasticised ensuring a snug fit. Practice with the popper system to adjust size may be required before use: full instructions given. The nappy can be fastened together before wrap is put on, making this easier to use for wriggly babies than a pre-fold, however not as easy as an all-in-one. Poppers are harder for toddlers to remove than velcro, however they may also be harder for those with poor eyesight or restricted hand movement or those that just don't get on with poppers to fix!

Can be washed at up to 60º, and tumble dried on low heat. Being made of Bamboo this version is slow to dry.
